When it comes to renting a car, it's important to plan ahead and make sure you have all the necessary documents and insurance details in order to ensure a smooth experience. To make things even easier, we provide a local collection service for reservations, making it simple to pick up your rental from your home or workplace. So, if you're planning to hire one of our vehicles, we kindly request a few things from our customers to ensure a safe and hassle-free experience. Here are some tips to consider before taking one of our vehicles for a ride!

1. Bring all the necessary documentation

Before renting a vehicle from us, ensuring you have all the necessary documents ready for a smooth and hassle-free process is important. To begin with, you will need to bring your ID with you. If you have an old paper license, you will also need to bring a valid photo ID, such as a passport, as well as a credit or debit card. Additionally, you should have at least one proof of address dated within the last three months available.

If you are a new customer, you will be required to provide your driver's license and two recent proofs of address, dated within the last three months, such as bank or credit card statements or utility or phone bills. Returning customers residing at the same address for over three months will only require one proof of address and their driving license. However, if you have moved since your last hire, you must bring two proofs of address to complete the necessary documentation.

2. Understanding insurance policies

When renting a vehicle from any hire company, it's essential to consider the insurance coverage that comes with it. Every company has to provide the necessary insurance coverage to meet the legal requirements for drivability. This typically includes third-party coverage as a baseline, and you’ll have the option to purchase a Collision Damage Waiver that can reduce your deposit at the very least.

At Intack, we offer discounts for vehicles covered under your comprehensive insurance. To take advantage of this discount, simply email us a copy of your insurance before you collect the vehicle, and we'll sort the rest! And, to take it one step further, we even offer a Loss Damage Waiver that cuts your excess to just £95 (usually £750 for cars, £1000 for vans/­minibuses). Even our Luton Box Vans drop from £1500 to £250 with the waiver. It's all about giving you that extra peace of mind while you're on your travels.

3. Consider age restrictions

When it comes to renting a vehicle at Intack, there are certain age restrictions that you need to keep in mind. If you're planning to rent a car or a van, you must be at least 25 years old and have at least one year of driving experience. However, if you plan to rent a large car, the minimum age requirement is 30. The maximum age limit to rent a vehicle from us is 75, but if you're above this age, you can contact our reservations team to check for possible clearance with our insurers in certain cases.

On the other hand, if you're planning to rent a minibus, you should be over 25 years old with at least two years of driving experience. But for 12 and 17-seater minibuses, you must have passed your test before January 1997 or have the D1 entitlement on your license. So, make sure you meet these specific age restrictions before you rent a vehicle from us to avoid disappointment!
