How long does it take to Flexi Hire a car?

The entire process can be complete within just a day or two, provided you’ve got all the correct documentation to hand.

What’s the difference between flexi hire and contract hire?

Flexi hire and contract hire are both terms which are sometimes used interchangeably by some companies, but they bear some pretty significant differences:

  • Contract hire involves a fixed term commitment, normally somewhere between two to five years. Flexi hire on the other hand just has a minimum hire period of 28 days, and after that you can return the vehicle at your discretion
  • Contract hire can sometimes involve ordering a vehicle as new from a manufacturer on your behalf, whereas Flexi Hire gives you the freedom to choose from an existing fleet
  • Contract hire makes you responsible for the maintenance and other associated costs, whereas Flexi Hire incorporates these as part of the overall price.

Those are just some of the major differences - you can find a more complete list on our post on the subject

Do I need insurance to flexi hire a car, van or minibus?

All of our cars, vans and minibuses come with their own level of insurance, normally in the form of third-party cover. (You can also purchase a Collision Damage waiver, which is useful for lowering your deposit.)

If you’d like, you can choose to use your own insurance to cover the vehicle, as long as your insurance is fully comprehensive. However, you’ll need to check whether the terms of your insurance cover the use of hire vehicles, as many personal insurance policies don’t. If you’re willing and able to Flexi hire a car or van with your own insurance, we’ll offer you a 20% discount here at Intack Self Drive.
