Make the Most of May Bank Holiday

Make the Most of May Bank Holiday

The Early May Bank Holiday has a habit of sneaking up on you. One minute, it’s just another week; the next, you’ve got an extra day off and a decision to make. Do you finally tackle that job you’ve been putting off, or do you shut the front door behind you and head somewhere else for a bit?

Truth is, most of us end up doing a bit of both. A productive morning, a relaxed afternoon, maybe even a last-minute plan that turns into the best part of the weekend. That’s the beauty of a long weekend.

Having the option of daily hire or flexi hire just makes it that bit easier to fit everything in without overthinking it. Sort what you need for the jobs, keep things flexible for the plans that come together later, and take the weekend as it comes. And to make it even better, we’ve got a few bank holiday offers to sweeten things up too!

The “we’ll do it over the bank holiday” jobs

Everyone’s got at least one. The kind of job that’s been hanging around for weeks, with good intentions behind it. Clearing out, picking something up, dropping something off, helping someone move, sorting the garden for summer, and finally getting organised. The problem usually isn’t the motivation or the time during the working week, but the hassle of trying to make it work with the wrong vehicle.

That’s where our daily hire van service makes things straightforward. You get what you need, when you need it, and the job stops dragging on longer than it should. Whether it’s a quick run or a full day of getting stuck in, having the right vehicle turns it into something you can actually get finished and still have time to chill out in the garden.

Take that trip you’ve been talking about!

Not every bank holiday needs a to-do list; sometimes it’s better just to see where the wind takes you. A change of scenery, even if it’s only for the day, can feel like a well-needed reset. A drive out to the coast, somewhere green and quiet, or even just a place you’ve never quite got round to visiting. No big plans, no pressure, just getting out for the sake of it.

And that’s usually the point where your usual car starts to feel like a compromise. Maybe it’s not built for a longer drive with the whole family squeezed in, maybe it doesn’t quite suit where you’re heading, or maybe you just don’t fancy relying on it when the last thing you want on a day out is ending up stuck somewhere.

That’s where it makes sense to switch things up for the weekend. Our City Car Bank Holiday Special is built exactly for plans like these. From Friday 1st May through to Tuesday 5th May, you can pick up a small car for four days for just £139.90, ideal for a couple of day trips, visiting family, or simply having something easy and reliable for the whole weekend without putting miles on your own car.

If you’d rather keep things even more relaxed behind the wheel, our small automatic cars are available for just £149.90, taking the edge off longer drives and stop-start traffic, especially if you’re heading somewhere busy. And if your plans call for a bit more space, whether that’s extra passengers, bags, or both, our medium-sized cars are available for just £154.90, giving you that added room without stretching the budget.

Travelling together without the hassle

Bank holiday weekends often mean meeting up with family or heading out as a group, and that’s where things can start to get complicated if you’re relying on multiple cars. Keeping everyone together makes the journey far more relaxed and avoids the usual stress of coordinating routes, timings, and stops along the way.

Minibuses and people carriers are ideal when you’ve got more people to think about. Everyone arrives together, the journey feels more social, and there’s plenty of room for bags, food, and anything else that ends up coming with you.

At Intack Self Drive, we have options ranging from 5–6 seat crew vans to 9, 12, and even 17 seater minibuses, depending on what you need. However, it is worth keeping in mind that for some of our larger vehicles, the designated driver will need to have passed their test before 1st January 1997 and hold a full UK licence with D1 entitlement.

We’re open over the May Bank Holiday!

Not every bank holiday weekend is mapped out in advance, and that’s what often catches people out. Plans change, ideas come together at the last minute, or something crops up that you hadn’t expected. The last thing you want is to be stuck with no options when everything else seems to be shut.

That’s not the case with us at Intack Self Drive, though. We’re open across the Early May Bank Holiday weekend, so whether you need a vehicle for a planned trip, a last-minute job, or something that comes together on the day, we’re ready and waiting to help you hit the road.

Whatever you’ve got planned this Early May Bank Holiday, it’s the perfect chance to make the most of the extra time and do something a bit different – and with our bank holiday offers and fleet of over 500 vehicles ready to go, getting sorted couldn’t be easier.
